Why should we get interested into Project management?

In the 2022 Workplace Learning Trends Report made By Udemy Business ,Project Management is presented as  a TACTICAL SKILL witch is emphasized by the research made By the PMI that estimated 25 project managers will be needed in 2030. As you might noticed it represents a huge opportunity to secure a job in the future .

Well , My name is Nadir CHOUAT and  I am a Quality project manager. By creating this course I want to share my experience in Project Management with anyone interested to dive in this world because where I came from few resources are available to learn Project Management the right way which gave me the motivation to create this course to help everyone throughout the world .

The PMBoK 7 represents an evolution on how projects should be approached that's why it's relevant to all future Project managers to understand at least as a start the twelve (12) Project Management principals.

We will start our journey by getting you ready for this journey, first you will have a description of the content of the course , after that you will get to know me better , and finally few things you need to do in your environment to make the studying experience more efficient.

before entering into the project management world few things need to be understood first like the ethics of a project manager and how to create value throughout managing a project.

Project management is a challenging domain with many roles and responsibilities found throughout the project . As a future Project Manager ( I hope) you will have to understand the roles and responsibilities of  the sponsor and the PMO in order to get your job done .

Now after understanding the previous point , we will get to the main course the twelve (12) Project Management Principles based on the PMBoK 7 approach, when we will discuss each point in more details.

Some of you will pas the exams soon (CAPM/PMP), others may work already in a project, so in order to help you in your journey the last section of this course contains tricks and tips based on my eight years of experience to help you optimize your chance of success .

    • The Change Management process
    • Change Management Process is an important process. In the resource documents you will find the process described in the PMBoK 6. The first thing to talk about is the change request, the change can be request from someone from the project or outside the project. In this document, the requester must argue his/her case to the review board . We have three (03) possible results : The request is approved , in this case we pass directly to the implementation phase, The request is differed , meaning we need more time and data to make a decision and it's up to the requester to produce proof, and The request is rejected, in this case the requester will get a copy of why the request was denied . We request a change if we want to make changes into : -Documents : when we see that a document should change to suit up the objectives of the project, -Baselines : when we think that the baselines agreed upon are not realistic and we should make changes, and -Deliverables : when we think that the deliverable should be changes to satisfy the client . In the next lecture ,we will discuss about the PICC process , which is more detailed than this.
    • Lecture 76 :
    • PICC
    • The Process Integrated of Change Control (aka PICC) is an important process in the waterfall approach. Since we have discussed the general process in the previous article, we will focus on giving more details about some steps like : -Board discussion with change request owner : in this step the Board review may demand a discussion with the change requester to explain some points ,after that the Board in most cases will send an evaluator ,this subject matter expert will have to assess the amount of resources needed to fully implement the changes and he/she will have to write a report about the validity of the changes and their added value . If the change is validated we will jump to the next step, -Change integration : Another person will be summoned by the board to implement the changes ,as you can see the changes can be viewed as corrective actions to correct a default or reducing a risk, a preventive action to mitigate a risk, a defect repair to stop the defect to get to the client and improve the deliverable and finally an update which represent collecting reliable data that will be used to steer the project in the right way and help make better decisions . As you may know sometime we human resist to the changes that's why the next step is important, -Change verification : this step will be conducted by the verificator , this person will be responsible to asses the real implementation of the changes in practice and based on that the board will have the ability to the real added value of this change and reach the objective of the PICC process . At the end all the necessary documents will be updated based on the last approved changes and they will be send to all the stakeholders to let them know what happen . In some cases a change meeting can be organized to discuss about the changes in a more detail way . Keep in mind that this process is very important and for those who will get an audit for a quality management certification ( ex ISO 9001, or IATF 16949) this process will be scrutinized because it reflects the maturity of the organization project management structure , SO BE CARFULL.
